Event and Updates

Hello Family,

It’s been two months since our unforgettable family reunion, and what a joy it was to see everyone come together! We, the Legacy Committee, were especially thrilled to welcome new faces to the gathering—like the Williams family: Lenus, Donita, and Ashley. Your presence added a beautiful new thread to our family tapestry.

The reunion was much needed, and it reminded us of the strength, love, and legacy we share. As we look ahead to the 2027 Legacy Reunion, we’re excited to build on this momentum and make the next gathering even more meaningful.

Reflections from the Committee Closeout Meeting

Thanks to everyone who completed the reunion surveys—both online and in person. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, especially regarding the food! We deeply appreciate those who contributed sides and drinks. Your generosity helped make the event a success.

Of course, we also received a few constructive comments, which we view as valuable lessons learned. Some areas for improvement included:

  • Saturday’s venue size

  • Music selection

  • More family interaction

  • Activities for teens and children

We welcome any suggestions on how we can enhance the next reunion experience. We will address the venue location following the next subject.

Reunion Costs & Contributions

The total cost of the reunion was approximately $7,000.00. This covered:

  • Venue rentals for both days

  • Food

  • Bounce house rental

  • Photographer

  • Saturday’s decorations

  • Gift cards

  • Website creation, development, and support for three years

We were grateful to the family members who wanted to contribute to this year’s event. Moving forward, we will ask for family contributions to help support future reunions. Your involvement—whether through donations, volunteering, or ideas—is what keeps our reunions thriving.

2027 Legacy Reunion Location

The location survey results were close between Gatlinburg, TN and Milan/Jackson, TN. After careful consideration, we’ve decided to host the 2027 Legacy Reunion in Milan/Jackson. While Gatlinburg was a popular choice, the cost of cabin rentals—including large deposits and a four-day minimum stay—proved to be a challenge. Additionally, we want to ensure our older family members can attend, which Milan/Jackson better accommodates.

Growing the Committee & Family Involvement

As we prepare for 2027, the Legacy Committee will expand to include new members from the descendants of the 13 children of Will and Bell. This will foster deeper family involvement and ensure that all branches of our family tree are represented.

We encourage everyone—whether on the committee or not—to stay engaged. Share your ideas, volunteer as the event approaches, and help us continue building a legacy of love, unity, and celebration.

With love and gratitude,
The Legacy Reunion Committee
